TFCon exclusive nightbird thoughts, Device label Blaster thoughts and Reissue Piranhacon Thoughts

Hey all, time for another editorial.

links:

(Nightbird figure TFcon exclusive): http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/conventions-15/tfcon-2010-night-bird-first-images-revealed-170195/

(in hand look at devie label blaster): http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/other-news-20/in-hand-look-at-device-label-blaster-170197/

(Piranhacon): http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/generation-1-1/more-images-of-generation-1-seacons--piranacon-reissue-170196/

Before we get to the linked stories, i just want to mention that TFW2005 piosted news th other day that there's gonna be a g1 Predaking reissue. This i really like the sound of, but the parts that were gold stickers on the original and the prior re-issue are now going to be painted gold plastic. This drives the price up noticeably on a reissue thats already fairly expensive as it is. So we'll see. i do want a complete g1 combiner at somepoint.

Onto the links. LEts start wiht the most underwhleming first. The Nightbird photos, of the TFcon figure leave me underhelmed. i was originally thinking about oredering this figure from TFcon or bigbadtoystore.com, but i'm very underwhelmed by these photos. She's a convention exlcusive repaint of ImpossibleToys.com's version of G1 Arcee. I just saw a review on the oringial figure and the mold seems to be plagued by thin plastic guns molded into her hands. nightbird, which features a new headsculpt and and doubled pricepoint is seeming no worth it unless TFcon's higher-ups have fixed dthe plastic issues. that and the Grey plastic seems very dull.

2nd up: Device label Blaster. I liek the look fo this guy alot. its especially interesting that he's a mini-laptop (a.k.a netbook) and it seems llke theres little kibble on the back. I like the autobot logo on the "screen" in alt. mode. however, the fact that g1 Blaster is being re-issued as an SDCC exclusive this summer, kind of negates my interest in the device label counterpart. here's hoping i can get the SDCC exclusive version, after it all, it comes wiht 3 cassette bots.

last up. more Seacons and Piranhacon photos: I want this set soo much, but i'm willing to hold myself back until maybe the holidays. This is a great combiner, and dthe best example of a beast robots combiner. Better than Magnaboss by leaps and bounds in my opinion, but not as awesome as Magmatron from BWII.

That is all. A succint editorial. i need to change the blog name.

TFW2004 brings us some awesome new for tf3

Link: http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/transformers-movie-just-movie-31/optimus-primes-trailer-confirmed-for-transformers-3-and-a-chicago-filming-footage-170163/

Hello all. I'm back with some awesome aweseom news to comment on as far as Transformers go. this is mews on the third movie. So at the link above we have a vido (probably on an iphone 3G or 3gS as its nto as HD as the IPhone4 is) posted of part of the tf3 shoot in Chicago. ow the video is allright. and we get a glimspe of a blue-ish purple car. This has potential to be shockwave, who has been hinted as the third villain for the franchise. If it is and they go wiht the whole plot of somehow he makes his way into the Autobot Ranks and and then at some point reveals his true identity as a deceticon, that could make for an interesting plot if its written well. Maybe, if the blue-purple car is shockwave, he infiltrated the Autobots and NEST to get more information on Megatron (whom he could assume is dead. Just speculation, nothign is confirmed on the car at all.

Speaking of mysterious cars, we also have shots of a red Ferrari. now with this car, people are suggesting in the thread on TFW2005 tht it could be sunstreaker. i hope not. sure they made sideswipe silver in the movieverse, btu sunstreaker should nto be red, ever. Looking at the car, i get more of either a Hot Rod/Rodimus or Swerve feel. or maybe its a new incarnation of a little known character. who knows.

Also, the photos show optimus prime wiht a trailer. this makes me very very happy as his trailer is iconic, but he is never shown with it. looking ahead to this movie i ahd not planned to get an optimus prime figure from the line. The one for Revenge of the Fallen, is always going to be the best version of a modern movie-verse optimus prime for me. all the enigneering in both modes and with regard to the transformation to me clearly shows the pinnacle of what habro can do. Plus i dont thing the figure will change much from that movie to TF3. Though, if the toy comes with the trailer, i may have to consider getting it. I've longed for an optimus prime wiht a trailer as a mainline release since i've been colelcting.

Then, there was a few other photos that showed armed to the teeth rally cars painte din nascar style. people thought smokscreen initially, based on his altenrators toyline depiction, but there were three of them on the shoot location in chicago. people are saying all the guns are potential add-ons that flip out for an attack mode on the toy. there's speculation the car is Lockdown in a mjor role, or Axor. 1) who is Axor? 2) why have lockdown as a villain if shockwave is there as the alleged main villain? 3) why was there a third car? There's also speculation that these are cars souped up by a human fed up with the autobots being on earth and that this stuff being filmed happens early in the movie. I can see that and there was a plot poitn mentioned months agao that they were filming a scene of people protesting the autobots bringing their war to Earth. Its an interesting connection sure, and pretty plausible, but i hope its not a throw away part of the movie. However, the speculation that i'm going along wiht, at least for now, is that since there was 2 or 3 of the cars on the shoot they could potentially be the stunticons, as in everyone but motomaster, who made up Menosaur in g1. but here's the thing. we saw a Motormaster from btocon, but thta appears to be a fan custon. So if these three guys are three of the four limb pieces for Menosaur why are they all mostly the same car, why are they not their iconic colorings and where is Motormaster? Is he just off doing something else while this chase goes on?

This has been a rambling editorial. Comment down below wiht yoru thoughts on these photos.

TFW 2005 brings us news on TF:prime and a new convention

Links: http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/transformers-prime-39/transformers-prime-exclusive-footage-and-character-reveal-at-san-diego-comic-con-2010-170150/

http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/conventions-15/gregg-berger-announced-as-guest-at-slag-a-con-2010-170151/ and www.slagacon.com

so two quick posts from tfw2005 to talk about here. First up, the SDCC 2010 news. TFW posted earlier that the exlcusives for SDCC 2010are Mighty Muggs prowl and Speacial Edition/commemorative (a.k.a "we made soundwave a SDCC exclusive last year, so why nto make his rival the same") Autobot blaster. this is a re-issue of the g1 toy wiht some changes i'm sure and three of his cassetticons. I want Blaster so bad. Anywya, today, it was announced tat there's gonna be major character and exclusive footage from TF:Prime shown at SDCC later this month. I'm so looking forward to the footage. i give it maybe a week before it leaks. if its not legit posted to begin with.

secondly, a new Transfromers convention has surfaced, and has its first guest, Gregg Berger, voice fo g1 grimlock. The convention is named Slag-a-con and will happen on Saturday, October 9th in Chesterfield, Indiana. I'm very intrigued by Slag-a-con because of Gregg Berger and that the convention is in INdiana. Chesterfield is only about an hour away from my college, but there's two snafus: 1) finances with collecting and botcon 2) the day its on, october 9th, is the weekend before an ideal weekend for me, and i dont know if that weekend works wiht my academic courseload to travel 2 hours to get a figure or 2 and some signatures.

So i like the concept, but i dont think it works, plus i think itd be a bit nervewracking showing up to convention in a town i dont know where i dont know a soul. granted that's kind of what botcon 2011 will be like, but i know the LA slightly more than middle indiana. That, and school takes priority over a convienent convention, as does btocon finances.

Youtube Partnership questions/musing

It's doing what the title says.

Hey all, I'm considering looking into youtube partnership in the fall. Looking at my videos list and there views, i ahve three videos with over 1000 views and several more wiht over 300. I have no idea if this enough, hence the questions below i would like you guys's opinion on.

I'd mainly be Applying for partnership to get rid of the 11-minute time limit non-partners have on youtube.

So here's my questions:

1) if you're a partner, what are some of the other perks?

2) were you ever rejected for partnership?

3) do you have to have, for example, around 10 videos that are aroudn 1000 views total, or do you have to constantly get views in the tri[ple digits?

4) If i want to make partner, i'd have to re-do a helluva lto fo reviews, basucally all of mine from about February 2010 onwards, as one of the stipulations is you have permission to make money off of the music you use. Now the Money thing i coudl care less about, but I really dont want to be using Andy Arlocon's band's music to generate revenue, as something seems very "Wrong" or not fair to me about that. This si more of a comment, so i guess respond.

5) Is partnership acceptance dependant on number of subcribers?

So comment below or respond to the note (which this is mirrored from) on facebook about this. THanks guys.

ok so commenting on the photos goign down the displayed photos:

Barricade: Scout type. playing as him in the first mission of the 'con campaign. good stuff in both modes. I like his shockblast power thing when you hit his secondary power function button.

Brawl: soldier type. looks awesome, has been the mian guy i'm playing alongside other than megatron. Alt mode rocks, its nice to see a glimpse of the alt mode thats not only lit in game

Breakdown: not sure of his in game type btu both modes look awesome. cant wait to play as him.

Dead End: again both modes look awesome, and i want a toy of this guy. only gripe is the robot mode head looks a bti cartoony

Megatron: like in the in game model but i dont like the look of the toy and the voice is not growing on me in game.

Onslaught: looks like a brute. digging both modes and the color scheme. wnat toy

skywarp and thundercracker: the ineveitable starscream repaints. look nice. soldier types i think. If thhey make a starscrem toy for the game, look for them to make these guys, if they do, look for me to get thundercracker

Slipstream: I'm intrigued. i like.

Soundwave: Like a lot. cant wait to get the toy.

Starscream: looks like more of a brute soldier, not sure on the high boots aesthetic on the legs, but like the modes overall. if there's a toy: i may get it

Decepticon drone: interesting thats its a triple changer, i see some botcon troopbuilding wiht this mold.

bumblebee: have ethe toy, love it. love the character and voice from what ive sene of the gameplay

Jazz: this guy should be made available in the campaign as DLC. or made into a toy, awesome in both modes. though we are getting a Generations deluxe jazz with heavy g1 influence/

Jetfire: really like. want toy

Optimus prime: liek the art and the toy. nto sure how i feel about how the gun and plug into the side of the arm

Ratchet: toy. want . now. love the look. want him and subsequent IRonhide repaint/remold

Scattorshot: digging eveyrthing about the robot mode and the tank features of the alt. mode and the giant "move outta the way" cannon.

Sideswipe: iffy slightly on the robot mode head and the broadness of the robot mode upper body, specifically the shoulders. but i do like both modes and i want a toy.

SIlverbolt: love both modes and the swept back wings off the back in robot mode. Toy?

Warpath: want a deluxe version of this guy ASAP. love both modes

Zeta Prime: interesting

Air Raid: nice that he gets major charcaterization after typically only being a superion limb wiht minor characterization in the cartoon continutiy. love the lines on this guy. so dynamic. toy. want.

Arcee: i really like both modes.

autobot drone: could be BRawn or sandstorm. either way, i'd like a toy

Shockwave: Dude! he's a jet type thing! I want!!!!!

Editorial done. I'm Zack. hope you enjoyed.

"First impression" Text-Review #01: Generations/War for cybertron Deluxe Optimus Prime and Bumblebee

Hey all. If you're reading this in the USA, then happy 4th of july. anyway, its been a slow news day for the past few days at least in terms of stuff i want to comment on from TFW2005, so i figured i'd take a stab at doing a brief text review.

Now, unlike most text reviews, this was slated to be a "first impression" type of deal; in that i would give my intial thoughts on each new figure i got. i may not do this with every purchase, btu we'll see.

Anyway, so last night i got home from vacation from vacation and found a box from Amazon.com. I openend it and found War For Cybertron/Generations "Cybertronian" Optimus Prime and Bumblebee in there. Both figures are initially packaged in robot mode and Prime seems mistransformed minorly. His Wheels where splayed out to the side in robot mode, as opposed to behind his back, whihc is much more aesthetically pleasing. This was likley done to save on plastic shelling. Additionally, Prime's feet were slid forward, negating any chance he had of standing outside the shell. From reviews, i remembere his feet slide back on a hinged ball joint type deal. i hinged them back and he stood fairly well. I was initally going to leave him and Bumblebee in robot mode and then fool around wiht them today, the 4th. but after a fit of boredom hti me, i spent a decent amount of time transforming each to thier alternate modes.

Bumblebee has weapons storage on the underside of the "trunk" section of his Cybertronian car mode. My biggest down point on thie figure is that he gets aburdly panel-ly going into alt mode. tabbign the arms and front wheels in seems to be fine, but its a matter of when you bring the legs up and tab them into the underside of the arms. This wouldnt be too bad, but it get very tight when you have to port a tab on the underside of the robot mode foot to a hole that appear when the car roof and back part are straightened out. This connection is very tight and can cause a few parts to come untabbed once its done. you then have to fenagle with those until the figure looks somewhat all tabbed together. on the top of mine, i still cant get two of panels to tab together, btu its fine. The alt mode is wonderfully sleek and oddly rsembels an avocado in its shape. the translucent balck windows are really nice and the red highlights on them and on the rims are really nice as well. there's some nice molded in detailing and the yellow coloration is pretty uniform throughout. Definitly a worthy replacement for Animated bumblebee ( who i did llike) in my main display at school.

Optimus has slightly less of a fiddly transformation, but it took me a good while to figure out that his arms rotate up so the face straight back with the autobot insignia'd panels facing in. he then bends at the elbow and friction rests into the side of the wheel well on either side of the alt mode. The legs are probably about the easiest part to transfomr, once you figure out the unigure rotations his alt mode hood assembly and Waist joint do to orchestrate the transformation. Really the only gre, and its minor, i have wiht the alt mode is that when the aforementioned hood part lowers down and clips in, it makes the front window s bit hard to see, especially since thier grayness can get lost in the redness of the front and the gray of the bumper and tiny grill. while it is a cybertronian mode, i would've preferred a little bit of blue accenting on the windows in a manner that worked (in other words in a manner i dont think i can do).

In sum, these two figures are wellcome additions to my collection and and very well engineered pieces of plastic crack, especially for deluxes. given the mild compelxity of their transformations, i cant reccomend them for most child collectors. However, these toys are btoh really nice, fun to fiddle with and are a nice intoruction into the Generations toyline.

For the official reviews of the figures, check out my youtube page: zizzlerizzle8707 the reviews will both be up by this comign sunday, the 11th of July.
